<<<THE UNOFFICIAL (SURPRISINGLY) FINAL FANTASY VII ICON COLLECTION>>>
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
COMPILED, CREATED AND MAINTAINED BY JAMES "DRAGON" HALL
Hello and Welcome! Welcome to this, the first collection of Final
Fantasy VII icons available (that I know of). If anybody has any ideas
for inclusion in furture updates, please write and let me know. I'll
see what I can do.
For those of you who have played the game (either on
Playstation or on PC), you'll know just how good it is. Even those of
you who haven't played it will probably have some idea of the game,
and if not, then find out some more!!! It should be played by all!!!
Ahem, sorry. I just had to get that ikkle sales pitch over and
done. Sorry, but I don't have the faintest idea how to sensibly
structure documentation, so I'll just guess. So lets start off with
the Introduction (it would seem a good idea).
<<<<<<<<INTRODUCTION or WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This is a compilation of Icons and backdrops taken from Final
Fantasy VII-related themes. Each of the main characters that I
could get ahold of pictures of has their own little selection of
pictures, so no of them feel left out. Even the frankly bizzare Cait
Sith gets his own section. Wow.
Sorry. Um, where was I? Aha, yes: In the archive you'll also
find backdrops to use on your workbench. The images are all supplied
in PAL Hi-res Laced (thats 640 by 512 pixels) and are in 256 colours.
Those of you with less powerful machines will probably want to drop
the resoulution and/or the number of colours, but I'll leave that up
to your own preference.
<<<<<<<<REQUIREMENTS or WHAT DO I NEED?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
All you need to use these Icons is a fully installed copy of
Newicons. Umm, that's all folks.
<<<<<<<<INSTALLATION or HOW DO I GET THEM TO WORK?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
To install the Icon's you'll need to get ahold of a specific
program. Personally, I find that the "Niconface" Program is perfectly
adequate and very easy to use. Otherwise just use any other Icon
alterer program- things such as Iconian, or even the program supplied
with Newicons (the name of which escapes me right now).
<<<<<<<<MY REASONS or WHY THE HELL BOTHER?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Why did I do this? Kind of hard to say, really. basically it
was a combination of several things, which I'll list here (although I
doubt that you're particularly interested). Firstly, I wanted to
actually make my own contribution into the Amiga world, and an Iconset
was a good way to do that- after all, everything (nearly) needs an
Icon, and icons tend to get about all over the place. I used Newicons
because they are cool and colourful, and adaptable, and I don't
actually have a copy of Magic Workbench.
Of course, that doesn't mean that I would really just go out
and make an Iconset of some random thing. Oh no, there had to be some
other motive...
Well, I love Japanese games and Japanese animation, and I have
a Playstation, which I play on a lot. However, in order to allow me to
play some of these Japanese games on my Playstation, I decided to take
it to be "chipped" (i.e the insertion of a chip which allows you to
play American and Japanese games on a Plysation, as well as copied
games but I'd never do a thing like that honest guv'nor). This meant
that I would be without my Playstation for a few days. !Horror!
!Shock! !Lamenations! Nothing to do but spend a lot of time on my
Amiga (asmittedly I could have done that English essay that I should
have done a few weeks ago, but that's no fun). So I decided to make
use of my Amiga's graphical capabilities and produce this beautiful
collection of FFVII influenced Icons. I don't know exactly what you
will use them for (for some reason I use the character heads for my
Hard Disk partitions) but I'm sure you'll think of something.
<<<<<<<<DISTRIBUTION AND COPYRIGHT or LEGAL STUFF>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
This entire package can be distributed freely, as it is
FREEWARE, so long as all of the contents are present and have not been
altered in any way, including this readme file. All pictures are
copyright of Squaresoft (probably).
<<<<<<<<ABOUT THE AUTHOR or WHO THE HELL AM I?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hello, my name is James "Dragon" Hall, creator of this little
package and soon-to-be (hopefully) artist of reknown throughout the
world. Well, we can but hope! Anyway, I am a lover of all things that
involve either the words 'Japanese', 'Japanese Animation', 'Manga' or
'Anime'. Oh yes, an anime crazed Otaku, that's me. Admittedly that
will mean very little to many people, but never mind. To those that
know, it is something which might make them go "Wow, somebody else
who likes anime!" (or alternatively they might go "oh god what a
tosser, but hey).
I own my rather nifty little Amiga 1200- complete with CD-ROM,
Hard drive, scanner and so on- as well as a whopping 40 Megabytes of
Fast Ram (something I'm rather pleased with). I also own a
Playstation, which is where I got the inspiration to make this Iconset
from. I love music and anime, and Roleplaying, and all sorts of stuff.
But lets face it, most of you don't really care about that, so you? So
I'll stop yapping and get on with it.
<<<<<<<<MORE INFORMATION or ARE YOU STILLHERE?>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Myself and two of my Friends, Minkus and Daniel, have set up
small new Shareware company called Demonsoftware. We have four games
scheduled for release god-knows-when but when we do, you'll know about
it. But if you want to know more about Demonsoftware, I suggest that
you read the documentation in the aptly-titled 'Demonsoftware'
drawer:)
I have spent several hours and a lot of work compiling this
selection of icons for you guys, and I really would be very grateful
if anybody felt like thanking me in some way (be this by means of
postcards, small donations of money, free games or whatever. I DON'T
MIND! But I will say this- the person who sends me the most
interesting or most appreciated gift/donation/game or whatever will be
sent, in return, their own litte present. It won't be much, but I'm
sure you'll like it.
<<<<<<<<WHAT'S NEXT? or... Um, er... doh! I can't think ofanother way
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<of putting that!>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Well, I already have another prroject which I am working on-
a Dead or Alive iconset (based on the hit arcade, Playstation and
Saturn game, soon to have a sequel on the Dreamcast :)
This iconset will feature ALL the characters from the game,
from the feisty Kasumi to the skillful Hayabusa, and will include the
two PSX-only characters, Bass and Ayane. What more could you want???
